Ethan Hawke embodies tortured songwriter Lorenz Hart, in Blue Moon. Hawke literally cries in his beer (or scotch) on opening night of Oklahoma. The Irony is Richard Rogers, Hart's former partner, has written the son to be legendary musical with Oscar Hammerstein not Hart. It seems evident their partnership has ended due to Hart's drinking. Ethan Hawke remains one of our time's finest actors. He gives a talented man's anguish his all. Blue Moon captures Broadway of the 30s and 40s. How much anguish can a movie fan take? Blue Moon does a wonderful job portraying a talented man destroying his career. What a bummer.
