The Space Between Us Review - 2 Stars

The star-crossed teen romance gets a new twist in "The Space Between Us." Asa Butterfield plays a kid born on Mars, thanks to an astronaut's unexpected pregnancy. To amp up the emotion, Asa's mother dies in childbirth, and fellow astronaut Carla Gugino steps in as surrogate mom. The kid returns to Earth, escapes the scientists testing him, finds a girlfriend, and discovers he's allergic to Earth. Sometimes "The Space Between Us" feels like a Disney or Spielberg teen adventure. Sometimes it approaches cute. Most of the time, the story feels sappy. 2 stars, rated PG. Does it deliver what it promises? Teen romance. Is it entertaining? A little too sweet. Is it worth the price of admission? No thanks.
