Adam Sandler gets serious in "Uncut Gems," as a Big Apple gems dealer, trying to satisfy a dazzlingly amount of debt simultaneously in a variety of schemes. Some will enjoy this different side of Sandler, but I found the character thoroughly unlikeable, and the movie a disappointment. 1 Star, rated "R."
As jeweler Howard Ratner, Adam Sandler can't get anything right. His various debts and schemes would try the patience of any adult. Maybe the guy has a death wish. This movie killed two hours of my life, and left watching an ending that thoroughly shocked and disappointed. Interesting asides include NBA star Kevin Garnett as a client, and Idina Menzel as Sandler's fed up wife.
