Birdman Review - 3½ Stars

Tap into your most creative impulses when you settle in to watch “Birdman.”  And get ready to laugh at the explanation of its title “The Unexpected virtue of Ignorance.”  Michael Keaton plays a one time superstar superhero who walks away from his franchise and watches his career fade.  So he finances,,directs, and stars in a highly serious and quite pretentious drama on Broadway.  Of course everything goes wrong.  With Edward a Norton, Naomi Watts, Emma Stone, Zach Galifianakis and Amy Ryan.  “Birdman” has some jaw dropping moments amid its backstage chaos.  This is not your father’s backstage comedy.  Does it deliver what it promises?  Outrageous theatrical backstage comedy.  Is it entertaining?  Like a car crash.  Is it worth the price of admission?  Total unique must see movie.
