Conclave spins an intriguing dramatic mystery. The Pope has died. Cardinals gather to select the new leader. Cardinal Thomas Lawrence, played by Ralph Fiennes, organizes the papal conclave necessary for the election. We hold on to our arm rests as Cardinal Thomas navigates secrets, back room deals, and scandals. Conclave deserves praise as a prestige production. The photography, acting, and storytelling are first rate. Beyond Ralph Fiennes, John Lithgow stands out as a back stabling double dealer. Isabella Rossellini, Stanley Tucci and Sergio Castellitto contribute memorable moments. Conclave kept me interested to the final frame. 4 Stars. Conclave. One of the year's best.
