Don Jon Review - 3 Stars

“Don Jon” does something I haven’t seen in a movie in I don’t know when — it leave you wanting more.  Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays a Jersey boy — living the single life.  He begins by listing his likes in life — his car, his friends, his pad, and girls — some in person but most on the internet in porn videos.  Even when he has extraordinary luck with women, he prefers porn to the real thing.  Until he meets Scarlett Johansson — a perfect ten in the world of Gordon-Levitt and his buddies.  She doesn’t fall for the usual line and is, in fact, a tough sale.  Soon she’s laying down the rules and even in a relationship with her, Gordon-Levitt still has that porn addiction which once discovered touches off World War Three.  At a night class — Scarlett’s idea and actually part of the price of winning her — he meets Julianne Moore, an older woman who catches him watching porn on his phone and also catches his eye.  And then the movie takes a turn that surprises even the most hard-boiled viewer.  I won’t tell you what happens but I will tell you you’ll leave wanting more.  A great cast includes Tony Danza as his father, and Glenn Headley as his mother.  Bree Larson stitches the entire story together with one sentence as his sister.  Does it deliver what it promises?  Great comedy romance.  Is it entertaining?  Very funny.  Is it worth the price of admission?  Much better than expected.
