The East Review - 3 Stars
Brit Marling plays an undercover spy for a private intelligence firm whose clients fear an underground group who target large corporations for various sins, including financial and environmental. She finds her way into “The East” a collective of true believers who live collectively and peacefully until they plan their next “jam”—which could include making a CEO jump into the arsenic tainted water his plant creates or dousing champaign with drugs manufactured by a company who disregards their products side effects. the tension comes as Marling turns from conservative religious solid citizen into a true believer of the cause. The story very very slowly sneaks up on you. Great cast includes Ellen Page, Alexander Skarsgard, and Patricia Clarkson. Does it deliver what it promises? Thriller. Is it entertaining? Great tension. Is it worth the price of admission? A definite.
