The Croods Review - 3 Stars

Every now and something far surpasses expectations — jumping from “this might be so so” to “OMG that was really good.”  That’s where I am on “The Croods”—the 3 D animated story of a stone age family who move into the world when an earthquake destroys their cave.  Nick Cage voices the dad and he’s hilarious as he instructs his family to stay in the dark and avoid anything new.  Catherine Keener plays his wife, and Emma Stone voices his daughter, the family member longing to see the bigger world.  She finds it (and fire, too) in the character voiced by Ryan Reynolds.  An earthquake and a volcano shake things up and the group moves to higher ground in a comic adventure.  Step aside Flintstones—“The Croods” entertains both adults and kids with great style and humor.  Does it deliver what it promises?  Comic story of prehistoric family.  Is it entertaining?  Very funny and great voice work.  Is it worth the price of admission?  Great family fare.
