Rust and Bone Review - 3 Stars

Marion Cotillard holds our attention in this odd romance.  She plays a killer whale trainer who loses her legs in a water park accident.  While recovering she meets drifter Matthias Schoenaerts who arrives with his five year old son to stay with his sister in the small French coastal town that serves as the setting.    The two come together and find an agreement on romance while he turns to alley fighting as a living.  Have I mentioned this film is in French, subtitled, and hits some emotional notes not usually found in mainstream American movies.  “Rust and Bone” finds meaning in a chain of emotional and physical challenges.  Many will leave the theater  moved in ways that may surprise you.  Does it deliver what it promises?  Unconventional romance.  Is it entertaining?  Emotional.  Is it worth the price of admission?  For French film fans and romantics.
