The Oscar Show

Same old, same old with Neil Patrick Harris instead of somebody else. Some of his jokes worked, but most didn’t... especially the predictions in a briefcase bit. High point: Lady Gaga - Can she sing, and what a feat pulling off a tribute to Julie Andrews with Julie in the room. Low point: Stretching a two-hour show into four hours.

Surprises:  Lots of love for Whiplash and The Grand Budapest Hotel. Disappointments: Boyhood settled for Patricia Arquette’s Supporting Actress Oscar. Toss Ups - Birdman wins best Picture and best Director. Good choice, and reflects the movies of the year; but I also liked Boyhood.

I say Jimmie Kimmel for host.
