Mr. Turner Review - 3½ Stars

Every now and then “Mr. Turner” projects a landscape so beautiful it takes your breath away.  Some of these panoramas morph into the landscapes of painter J.M.W. Turner–the early 1800’s artist who so desired realism that he strapped himself to the mast of a sailing ship in order to capture the feel of a raging storm.  Timothy Spall plays Turner as an odd eccentric–an outsider in his profession and in relationships as well.   I know beauty when I see it and “Mr. Turner” unreels a beautiful, breath-taking, enigmatic film about a talented oddball.   Does it deliver what it promises?  Portrait of an artist in his last years.  Is it entertaining?  Odd and beautiful.  Is it worth the price of admission?  Art at any price.
