22 Jump Street Review - 3 Stars

Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill build on their terrific partnership in “21 Jump Street” in a sequel that makes fun of sequels and tweeks these two actor’s image. They play hapless cops who go undercover to bust up a drug ring.  In the original they infiltrated a high school.  For the sequel they attend a local university.  Tatum soars as a dopey cop with lines like “I’m the first one in my family to pretend to go to college.”  Hill gets some hilarious physical sticht including crashing thru a tower of beer built for fraternity pledges to hurdle.  Ice Cube also turns up the volume as the pair’s disgusted boss.  Tatum discovers his affinity for football and gets the chance to become the  BMOC while Jonah finds a girlfriend in the art department winning her with a poetry slam during a hilarious coffeehouse sequence.  The Lucas twins add some hilarious riffs while Jillian Bell spews jokes about the undercover guy’s real age to great effect.  The mix of hilarious lines and self aware ribbing make “22 Jump Street” great fun to watch.  The credit imagine at least a dozen sequels in this series.  And a grand finale at Spring Break in Mexico tops this over the top fun time.  Does it deliver what it promises?  Hilarious sequel that makes fun of sequels.  Is it entertaining?  Very very funny.  Is it worth the price of admission?  A hip good time.
