The Best Man Holiday Review - 2½ Stars

“The Best Man Holiday” picks up from “The Best Man”–a beloved lifestyle comedy from 1999.  Now the characters are grown up adults with grown up problems—including money, divorce, children, illness and the whole nine yards.  Taye Diggs made it as a writer but needs a project.  Morris Chestnut turned into a football star but faces the end of his career.  Terrence Howard and Harold Perrineau get all the laughs.  The gorgeous cast includes Nia Long, Sanaa Lathan, and Regina Hall.  The story touches on birth, death, money, sex, and friendship.  The first two thirds sparkle thanks to beautiful settings and very funny bawdy dialog.  The multiple plot lines stretch the story longer than necessary and gets a little overly soapy and manipulative.  But that happens when old friends get together.  Does it deliver what it promises?  Lifestyle comedy about great characters now grown into adulthood.  Is it entertaining?  Enjoyable, funny and interesting. Is it worth the price of admission?  Hipster date night.
