In a World Review - 2½ Stars

Lake Bell wrote and directed this indie comedy about a young woman trying to break into the big time Hollywood world of voice over movie trailers.  To complicate matters, her father – played by Fred Melamed – has one of the most famous voices in town and has no interest in seeing his daughter succeed.  A few subplots move things along, including a romantic triangle between Lake – another famous voice talent – and the sound engineer who really cares for her.  Lake’s sister has a bad turn in her relationship with Rob Corddry thanks to Lake’s meddling.  Several famous cameos work particularly well  for Geena Davis and Eva Longoria.  The story ends on a great note of surprise—a call for women to find their voice.  So THAT”S what it’s about.  Does it deliver what it promises?  Indie comedy delight.  Is it entertaining?  Bubbly.  Is it worth the price of admission?  In a world of giant movies—this little one offers great fun.
